Question 1

How do I get started with MintValt?

Accepted Answer

Create an account, start the 30-day free trial, and upload a bank statement. No credit card is needed, and the dashboard fills in as soon as the first file is read.

Question 2

Is there a free trial?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your first 30 days include everything. No card is needed to start, and nothing is charged when the trial ends.

Question 3

What file formats do you accept for uploads?

Accepted Answer

PDF and CSV for bank statements, and PNG, JPG or WebP for receipt images.

Question 4

How do I import my transactions?

Accepted Answer

Three ways: upload a PDF or CSV statement, forward a statement to your own MintValt email address, or photograph a receipt. You can also enter a transaction by hand.

Question 5

What is automatic categorisation?

Accepted Answer

Imported transactions are filed into categories such as groceries, utilities and travel without you doing anything. Change one and MintValt remembers your choice for that merchant next time.

Question 6

Can I track multiple accounts?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and there is no limit. Accounts, cards, balances and transactions all sit in one place, and accounts in different currencies roll up into a single total in the currency you choose.

Question 7

What currencies does MintValt support?

Accepted Answer

150+ currencies. Each account is held in its own and totalled in yours, at rates that refresh through the day. A finished month is converted at the rate that applied then, so last year's figures do not move when today's rate does.

Question 8

Can I just ask it a question?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Ask in your own words: where am I spending the most? What did I spend on groceries last month? Can I afford this? Every answer is worked out from your own transactions rather than from averages, and it asks before it changes anything.

Question 9

Can I set budget alerts?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Set a budget per category and MintValt nudges you as you approach the limit, not once you have passed it.

Question 10

Does MintValt ask for my bank login?

Accepted Answer

No, never. We do not ask for a bank username or password, and there is no connection to authorise. You upload each statement yourself.

Question 11

How secure is my data?

Accepted Answer

Your data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.2 and above, served over HTTPS with HSTS, encrypted again in our backups, and every request scoped to your account alone. There are no bank credentials to store.

Question 12

How does MintValt handle GDPR, CCPA and PDPA?

Accepted Answer

MintValt is designed around the principles of GDPR, CCPA and PDPA. You can request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing privacy@mintvalt.com.

Question 13

Do you sell my data?

Accepted Answer

Never. We don't sell, trade or share your financial data. We only use it to provide the service and improve the app.

Question 14

Does the AI know who I am?

Accepted Answer

We never tell it. Before a statement is sent to the AI that reads it, your name, address, email, phone number and account and card numbers are replaced with placeholders, and put back once the transactions come out. Your questions to the assistant, and the transactions it and categorisation read, are masked the same way. Nothing sent is used to train AI models.

Question 15

How are receipt images handled?

Accepted Answer

A receipt image is read in memory and discarded once the merchant, date and total are out of it. The image itself is never written to disk.

Question 16

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

One plan with everything in it: $10 a month or $100 a year, after a 30-day free trial. Unlimited accounts and transactions, and the only limits are on the four things that cost real money to run, set well above what an ordinary month uses.

Question 17

Can I cancel anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from your settings in one click. Access continues to the end of the billing period you have already paid for.

Question 18

Is a year cheaper?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A year is $100 instead of the $120 that twelve monthly payments come to.

Question 19

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

All major credit and debit cards, plus the common digital wallets, processed by Creem as our Merchant of Record. Your card details never reach us.

Question 20

Can I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There is a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first paid subscription. Email support@mintvalt.com within 14 days of the charge and we will refund it.

Question 21

Can I switch between monthly and yearly?

Accepted Answer

Yes, whenever you like, from your settings on the website.

Question 22

How do I change my password?

Accepted Answer

From your account settings, choose "Change Password", enter your current password and set a new one.

Question 23

Can I share my finances with the person I live with?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Create a household, invite them by email (they do not need a MintValt account yet), and choose which accounts, categories and budgets to share into it. Nothing is shared until you choose it. Everything you do not share stays private, only you can rename or delete something you own, and unsharing takes it back straight away. Shared spending counts towards shared budgets, and the household view shows who paid for what.

Question 24

How do I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

From Settings, choose Close account, in the app or on the web. Your account and everything in it is erased seven days later, and signing in during that week cancels it. The delete-account page walks through what goes and what is kept.

Question 25

Can I export my data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your transactions and your net worth history download as a spreadsheet from your settings, and there is a tax report as a PDF or a spreadsheet too.

Question 26

How long do you keep my data?

Accepted Answer

For as long as your account is active. Close your account at any point and everything is erased seven days later.

Question 27

How do I contact support?

Accepted Answer

Email support@mintvalt.com and a person replies, usually within a couple of days. For anything about a payment, use billing@mintvalt.com.

Question 28

Is there an API?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Scoped API keys and webhooks, both managed from your account settings.

Question 29

What should I do if I find a security vulnerability?

Accepted Answer

Email privacy@mintvalt.com with the details rather than posting publicly, and we will look into it promptly.
