Delete your MintValt account

How to request deletion

1. Sign in to MintValt, in the mobile app or at app.mintvalt.com.
2. Open Settings.
3. Scroll to Close account.
4. Confirm. On the web you are asked to type CLOSE MY ACCOUNT, so the button cannot be hit by accident.

If you cannot sign in, email privacy@mintvalt.com from the address on the account and we will do it for you.

The seven day window

Closing the account schedules it rather than doing it instantly. The delay exists so that a tap made in anger or by accident can be undone: sign in during that week and cancel, and nothing is lost. After seven days the deletion runs and cannot be reversed.

What is deleted

Everything the account holds: your profile, your financial accounts, every transaction, your budgets, savings goals, categories, recurring schedules, receipts, notifications, assistant conversations and saved devices. Deleted permanently, not archived, and we cannot recover it afterwards.

What is kept, and for how long

Two things outlive the account, and both are narrow.

• Payment records: what our payment provider sent us, when, and whether it was genuine. These are financial records we are required to keep, and they contain no transactions, no budgets and no balances.
• Support correspondence: an email thread with us is filed under the address that sent it rather than under your account, so closing the account does not sweep it up. Ask us and we will delete it.

Routine backups are rotated on a rolling basis, so a copy of deleted data can persist in a backup for a short period before it ages out.

Deleting some data without closing the account

You do not have to leave to remove something. Any transaction, account, budget, goal or category can be deleted on its own from inside the app, and Settings also offers to delete every transaction at once while leaving the account and its accounts in place. These deletions are immediate and have no seven day wait.
